Description:
We are a small, family owned and operated winery bringing together three generations to make great wine. We are first and foremost a family, knit together by blood and marriage. Our family is diverse in skills, talents and interests, but we all have a passion for great wine and each other!

Our winemaking philosophy is to produce premium, limited quantity, handcrafted wines. We source the highest quality grapes and allow them to naturally transform into bold and flavorful wines that are true to their varietal character. Stylistically, our wines resemble those found in Southeast France and North/Northwest Italy, combined with a distinctly Washington flair.

A large part of our joy comes from meeting others who share a love for wine and the winemaking process. We look forward to sharing the fruits of our labor with you.

Mattawa Wa 99349

Description:
The sun drenched slopes of the Saddle Mountains produce some of the finest wine grapes in the world. Almost thirty years and three generations ago, the Fox family recognized the potential of this wonderfully arid environment and began an agricultural operation that has evolved to include the Fox Estate Winery.

We are a small, family owned and operated winery located just off Highway 243 South in Mattawa Washington, which lies on the east side of the Columbia River twenty miles south of the Gorge Amphitheater. Our family actually began planting grapes twenty five years ago, starting with the varieties of Riesling and Gewuerztraminer. We currently have over forty acres in limited production, and another sixty acres that were planted Spring 2002 Once we reach peak production in three to four years, we will produce the varieties of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Syrah, Riesling, Gewuerztraminer.

In 2001, the year in which we premiered our first vintages in our own label, we bottled approximately 400 cases of the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon and 500 cases of the 1999 Merlot. While the grapes used for these vintages were local Mattawa grapes, they were not from our vineyards. We are confident that as we move closer and closer toward using own grapes exclusively, the quality of our wines will continue to rise.

In 2002 we have recently bottled almost one thousand cases of 2001 Riesling, which has received the highest rating from Northwest Wine Press Magazine, a unanimous vote of "Outstanding".

As for the Merlot, Bob Woehler, columnist for Wine Press Northwest, has written about our 1999 Merlot " "It is very bright, fruity, tasty , and easy to drink. " We would like to suggest that you look out for black licorice and dark cherries when tasting. As a family operation, one of our beliefs is a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Ginkgo Forest wines are made from hand-harvested grapes in estate-grown vineyards, expertly tended on the Wahluke Slope. This famed appellation surveys the mighty Columbia River and has perfect grape-growing conditions with desert heat and meager soils. Millions of years ago, the area was wet and humid with swamps and shallow lakes surrounded by verdant forests. Thousands of petrified trees were discovered here in the 1950s with the ginkgo being the most rare. This petrified forest lies atop the Saddle Mountain range overlooking Ginkgo Forest Winery. Inspired by the trees that once grew in abundance here, Ginkgo Forest wines are crafted with loving care and attention to make them distinctive and long-lived like the winery’s namesake tree.

White Heron Winery
Website: www.whiteheronwine.com mail: info@whiteheronwine.com
10035 Stuhlmiller Rd.
Quincy Wa 98848
509.797.9463
Description:
White Heron Cellars is located in the middle of our vineyard property in the ghost town of Trinidad, between Quincy and Wenatchee, above the Columbia River in Washington State.

The winery started making wine in 1986 with a Washington State Pinot Noir. In the spring of 1988, White Heron released the 1986 Pinot Noir and the 1987 Dry Riesling. Subsequent vintages of these wines have been released and in 1990 White Heron added the 1988 Chantepierre - a meritage type blend of Cabernet Savignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Current vintages are made with grapes from our own vineyards and from selected Columbia Valley growers. Each wine is unique in style and creates its own niche in the wine world.

The vineyard and winery site overlooks the Columbia River, Crescent Bar Resort, and the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Deep well-drained soils, southern slopes, excellent air drainage, and a ring of hills surrounding the site, make for an exceptional vineyard location. The first vines were planted in 1991. Varieties grown include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Gamy, Syrah, Rousanne and Viognier.

In the long term, White Heron will concentrate on Red Wines. The production of Bordeaux varieties and Syrah will be the primary focus. Many of these varieties are unusual and not commonly available in Washington State. It has been fun to watch these varieties mature in the vineyard and then in the bottle.
